This is my latest poem (also on Facebook). New to this Blogging thing so please bear with.
I have been working on this for some time, and a recent conversation with a dear friend inspired me to finish and post. Did not mean for so many people to focus on death or dying, but many were brought back to a better time in their life and maybe a few of their days were brightened.
Anyways, Enjoy and comment please!
This place is comfortable to me.
Like an old book that has lost it’s cover
And it’s spine bent in too many places.
On top of this ledge, I see hills that go on forever.
The landscape untouched by Man in the name of Progress.
The river runs wild and unchecked and unpolluted.
I see the area where my family has stayed for generations
And will stay for many more with the grace of God.
My children play with their children,
And laughter fills the Autumn air.
It will get cold soon.
Supper needs to be prepared.
I will sit with my children.
My grand children will sit at my feet
And listen to the stories of the old days and ways.
Until they finally drift off to sleep.
I will join them soon after.
In the morning I will rise to see them off.
Except for the youngest who is staying to take over things.
For this I am Happy.
There are far too few of these scenes left in the world.
